This position performs nerve conduction studies, assists with nerve and muscle biopsies and trains residents and fellows concerning nerve conduction techniques.

Responsibilities:

- Trains residents and fellows concerning nerve conduction techniques.
- Performs nerve conduction through clinical, research, portable and intraoperative studies.
- Assists with nerve and muscle biopsies by ensuring that surgical supplies are available, processing and distributing tissue specimens, cleaning up after procedures and assisting surgeons.
- Ensures that the lab area is kept clean and stocked with supplies.
- Maintains records on and calibrates EMG equipment.
- May perform patient billing and scheduling duties.

- Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.

Qualifications:

Required

- Bachelor’s degree in a biological science or a related area or work experience equivalency.
- Incumbents in this position are required to prepare and sit for the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Technologist (AAET) certification examination within two years of employment.

- Required license(s):
- Basic Life Support Health Care Provider card through American Heart Association or obtain within one month of hire.
