- Assists with laser procedures and other ophthalmic procedures including: Obtaining the consent of the patient, clean and sterile technique, assisting with laser procedures, assisting with intraocular injections, and assisting with other minor office procedures.
- Provides patient education including instructing patients of ophthalmic conditions and treatment plans; and teaching methods of contact lens insertion, removal, and care.
- Basic visual fields, including: Amsler grid and confrontation fields.
- Assist in ophthalmic imaging as needed, including:
- IOL Master
- Contact A-scan
- Anterior segment photography
- External photography
- Fundus photography

- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job outlined above.
- Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills.
- Ability to provide care appropriate to the population served.
- Ability to interpret the reliability and validity of test results and seeks additional guidance to ascertain the next appropriate treatment procedure.
- The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.

Qualifications:

Required

- One year of experience working in an allied health profession position in ophthalmology or six months work experience.
All of the following license(s)
- Basic Life Support Health Care Provider card through American Heart Association or obtain within one month of hire.
- JCAHPO certification as an Ophthalmic Assistant (COA).
